My submission for Janet and Arielle’s That’s So Sugoi! zine, in which the prompt was to mash up childhood cartoons and animations together. I put Courage the Cowardly Dog in Evangelion. The zine will be sold at Anime Boston and Anime Next :)

I do realize that eva 01 has some serious facial and anatomical reconstruction going on but.. bear with me? hahaha I was quite dazed and caffeinated. My apologies.

There are things I would fix if I were to touch this again but for now this is done.

It’s done! My contribution for Janet and Arielle’s That’s So Sugoi zine!! The theme for their zine was to mash together American cartoons and Japanese anime—so I chose to mash up Slayers (NEXT, specifically) with Adventure Time!!

This is for Arielle and Janet’s fanzine called That’s So Sugoi!, a self-published compilation dedicated to western cartoons/anime nostalgia mash-ups with eighteen cool artists. I went for Older!Powerpuff Girls/Rowdyruff Boys “Beach Episode” trope, heavily based on sbj’s More Than Human.

Hello friends,
I’ve reached a point where I don’t know what to do with all of the fanart I make and they are just cluttering up my little apartment, so I’ve decided to just give em away. I’ve never done one of these before, but I guess how it’s usually done is something like this:

I’ll pick 10 random people who’ve reblogged this post on May 25 and they can have whatever they want from what I’ve dug out of boxes and pictured above - I’ll even take care of mailing it to you, wherever you are. Some more sketches from the journal I kept in 2009 during Tangled while developing the character of Rapunzel. These drawings are from my research of what a typical day in the life of Rapunzel might have been.

She would write in her journal, do laundry, prepare the fireplace for her daily hair brushing session with Mother Gothel. She had chores. She had ideas. She had good days and bad. Some days her paintings represented her hope, other days they represented her fears. Rapunzel was a regular girl bursting at the seems with creativity. Walls could not contain her spirit.

This journal later helped me when designing Rapunzel’s murals for the movie.

Magwayen - The goddess of the sea who is believed to take the kalag (soul) of the dead in Sulad (land of the dead).

Magwayen is also one of the primordial deities for the Visayans right along with the sky God, Kaptan, who is mentioned in a Visayan creation myth as being one of the first two deities and with Kaptan who she married, she helped to create the first man and woman by planting a seed which grew into a reed where the first man, Sikalak (Si Kalak), and the first woman, Sikabay (Si Kabay) were born from.

She is the goddess who is the one who ferries those who have died in her boat and brings them to the God Sumpoy, God of the Underworld, who then gives the souls to the God Sisiburanen, who takes in all souls, good or bad, and brings them to Mt. Madyaa’s, the home of the gods, where the Visayans living in the coastal regions were believed to live out their afterlife or in a tall mountain in Borneo.
